What's Up with "Cozy" Mysteries???

Ok, maybe I'm just behind the times but I've noticed in the last two years a plethora of folks reading and writing "cozy" mysteries. I've gotten hooked myself. If you haven't discovered these little treasures for yourself here is a little about them and a few of my favorite authors.

The definition of Cozy books is according to Wikipedia: Cozy mysteries, also referred to as "cozies", are a subgenre of crime fiction in which sex and violence are downplayed or treated humorously, and the crime and detection take place in a small, socially intimate community. Cozies thus stand in contrast to hardboiled fiction, which features violence and sexuality more explicitly and centrally to the plot. The term "cozy" was first coined in the late 20th century when various writers produced work in an attempt to re-create the Golden Age of Detective Fiction.[1]

The first ones I discovered were written by Hope Callaghan and she is still my favorite author of cozies. This woman is amazing! She writes at least one book a month! They are good little books too. Here's her Amazon Author page:

Sandy Scott is another fav. Her website is here: Sandy Scot Cozy Mysteries

Here is a whole website dedicated to Cozy Mysteries: Cozy Mystery List

Do a search for Cozy Mysteries on Amazon and you will probably find some free books!

If you are addicted to cozies tell us your favorites in the comment section below.
